5 years

5 years ago today, my cousin and I were on a plane to Brussels, doing things instead of thinking about them. It was quite the adventure! That day, I remember, I wrote about our journey in english, that being the reason I'm doing it again today.
It's baffling to see how much our lives have changed, how much we've lived and learnt and grown in the last few years. Some things are still the same, though. Tommy and I are still the older sibilings of two not-so-smoothly-tempered youngsters who give us worries and headaches, for instance, as well as moments of laughter and absolute nonsense.
But mostly, things have changed. Now, he lends me books and we talk about them. As I become more of an "old lady", he becomes a clever, witty, almost smart-ass boy, with a great sense of humor and an amazing prespective of what happens around him. And that just fills me up with pride and joy. Not that I had anything to do with it, but it's pretty amazing to see him grow.
And I know I cannot say this in public, especially to him, because he's a 15 year old boy and it would embarass him. But this is my little corner, and here I can say whatever I want. (Besides, no one comes here anymore, so I'm safe!) I love him so much. Although now I'm preparing to, one day, be asked to pick him up from his night out downtown at 3a.m., he will always be my little cousin, the first baby cousin I had, the one that baptized us as "pimas", the cute toddler that got all the family knowing the names of all possible dinossaurs.

Before I finish, I'd like to send out a huge THANK YOU to my dearest Aunt Isabel (wherever you are, Bela), who offered me said trip to Brussels for my 18th birthday. My days there are still one of my most cherished memories of you, second only to our summer of '07. I think I speak for all when I say we love you and miss you so much.
